BIFA
Black INMATE and family association

At BIFA Community Services, we are dedicated to providing culturally aware and supportive programs to those in need, with a predominant focus on the Caribbean, Black, and African communities of Canada.

BIFA (Black Inmates and Friends Association) recognizes that incarceration has a large ripple effect on the Black community. We are committed to ensuring that our resources and services reflect the needs of current and former inmates AND their loved ones and friends that are also negatively impacted by the harmful effects of incarceration. We believe that being culturally responsive and using a trauma-informed approach to service delivery is a critical component of our engagement with all community members we connect with.

We have worked closely within the Black community for over 30 years, to ensure that folks that are most impacted by incarceration have access to culturally responsive resources and services required to assist them during what is often a very difficult and stressful time.
